In Digital Citizen, Alves visualizes an engaged but chaotic citizenry.
By clicking the user, transforms each stripe in an array of tiny dots - each representing one of the millions of individuals that together compose a nation. Additional clicks continue to turn the flag into a chaotic jumble. With effort, the user can click the flag back into its original form.
Disjointed but united nevertheless, the slowly deconstructing/reconstructing flag demonstrates the power that one individual can have on their community – one click or action at a time.
